Dog-friendly yard care, year-round

Clean, safe, and fun for your dog. And beautiful for you.

Most yard companies don't want your yard.

In summer they show up, find what your dog left them, and either mow straight through it or quietly stop returning your calls.Winter's no different. Most crews would rather not open a back gate and find out what's behind it, even when what's behind it is a Golden Retriever who's delighted to have the company. So the driveway gets cleared, the backyard doesn't, and your dog is left staring at chest-deep snow with nowhere to go.Which leaves you doing it yourself, or hiring three companies: one for pet waste removal, one for lawn care, one for snow removal.- Three sets of quotes to chase.- Three schedules to keep from colliding.- Three crews to explain the gate to every time they send someone new.- Three invoices on three different cycles.- Three different ideas of what "done" looks like. And the day the gate gets left open, you won't even know which crew to call.

Here's the good news.

Your dog isn't the problem. Your dog is the whole point.SniffYard does all three: pet waste, lawn care, snow removal. And a whole lot more, once your yard's the happy place it should be.One company. One price. One person who knows your gate, your dog, and your yard. Nothing to chase, nothing to coordinate, nothing to double-check.I only serve pups, their humans, and their yards.I expect whatever's in the grass, because clearing it is the entire reason I'm here. And the one barking at the gate? Absolute favourite part of the day.

Here's your year.

I pick up after your dog year-round. Weekly from April through October. November through March, on every visit, as much as the snow lets me reach.

Around that, here's how the year goes:

- April. The yard wakes up. I clear what winter left behind, tidy the matted grass, and get the first cut in.

- May to August. The growing season. Weekly mowing and trimming. I pick before I mow, every time.

- September. The repair month. Aeration and overseeding with a dog-tolerant blend, in the narrow window where new grass actually takes hold before frost.

- October. Tucking the yard in. Winterizer feed, leaves mulched, a final short cut, and dormant seeding on the worn spots so they green up first thing in spring.

- November to March. Snow season. Clearing after every snowfall: driveway, walks, steps. Plus a cleared path to your dog's spot in the backyard, and pet-safe ice melt on the spots that get icy, the kind that won't burn their paws.

And yes, your yard can still be beautiful.

This is the part most people have given up on. A yard with a dog in it can look as good as the dog-free one next door.In summer that means the right grass, and catching damage before it spreads. In winter it means paths your dog will actually use, and a spring cleanup that catches whatever the snow hid.

You shouldn't have to choose between a dog who loves the yard and a yard you're proud of.

Four things nobody else does.

- I pick before I mow. Every visit, every time. Nothing gets shredded and flung across your lawn.

- I photograph the closed gate. Before I leave, every single visit, you get a picture of your gate latched shut. No wondering.

- I clear a path to their spot. In January, when the snow is past your dog's chest and they won't go out, there's a cleared path waiting. And when the walks turn icy, a little pet-safe melt where their paws go.

- I never leave empty-pawed. Every visit ends with a little something for your dog: a treat, or a handful scattered in the fresh-cut grass to sniff out. You tell me what they're allowed, and I'll handle the rest. Get ready to see that tail wagging at the window when I pull up to your house.

Ten thousand lawns and driveways.

Milo - Chief Sniffing Officer

Hi, I'm Carl!Years in lawn care and residential snow removal, north of ten thousand lawns mowed and about as many driveways and walks cleared. And I've had dogs most of my life, so I've been picking up after them far longer than I've been paid to.For five years I ran the University of Alberta Botanic Garden. The grounds were beautiful, and we made a point of welcoming dogs.I also know exactly why most lawn care and snow removal companies quietly avoid yards with dogs, because I worked at one, and back then I felt the same way. Then came Milo, an almost two-year-old Australian Shepherd who is, in my entirely unbiased opinion, the best dog in Edmonton. A backyard isn't a lawn to him. It's where everything happens, and watching him in it changed how I look at one.

So I niched down. Pun fully intended!

Someone should be grateful to take these yards. Making a dog feel at home in his own backyard is the most rewarding work I've done. So here I am.

One price. Everything above.

$369/month $299/month locked for as long as you stay.

Bought separately in Edmonton, this runs $4,300 to $4,600 a year (roughly $360 to $385 a month) across three different companies.

- Sign up any time. Nothing's charged until your service begins.

- No contract. Cancel any time from your account page, no phone call, no talking anyone out of it.

- Most homes, one flat rate. Covered for a standard city lot with up to two dogs. Bigger yard or a full pack? Get in touch and I'll sort it out.

- A free hello first. I'll come meet your dog and you before anything begins.

I'm taking 30 members this first winter. That's it.Not a marketing line. It's the number I can serve properly. Thirty yards means I know every dog by name, every gate by feel, and which corner of your lawn floods in June. Two hundred yards would mean none of that.

The founding rate closes October 1. After that, it's $369.

Right now I serve a handful of neighbourhoods close to home, so I'm never far and your snow gets cleared on time:

Bearspaw · Blue Quill · Duggan · Ermineskin · Greenfield · Keheewin · Skyrattler · Steinhauer · Sweet Grass · Twin Brooks

Outside these? Get in touch anyway. If there's enough interest in a neighbourhood, it's next on the list.

Straight answers.

Yes. Boots, tools, and mower deck get cleaned between properties. Yards are where dogs pick things up from other dogs, and I'm in a lot of yards. It takes a few minutes and it's not optional.

After you sign up, I'll reach out to set up a free welcome visit, we meet your dog, walk the yard, and confirm everything. Your first charge comes when your service actually begins, never before.

Most homes, as-is. The flat $299 is for a standard yard with one or two dogs, which covers the large majority of houses in the neighbourhood. A few things need a quick look first, a corner lot, a double driveway, an extra-large yard, or three or more dogs, and we sort those at the free welcome visit before anything's charged. Not sure? You're probably standard. Just sign up, and we'll confirm when I come meet your dog.

No. As long as I can get into the yard, you'll come home to it done, with a photo of the closed gate.

Usually not, and the first clean is included. If there's serious buildup I'll tell you what it costs before I start anything. No surprises on your invoice.

Into your green bin, loose. That's the only way Edmonton will compost it, and even "compostable" bags don't break down, so they get pulled out and landfilled anyway. Skipping the bag keeps it in the ground where it belongs. Grass clippings and leaves go in the green cart too. If the cart's full or frozen shut, it's bagged into the black cart instead.

That's the entire business. Gates get latched and photographed. If your dog is nervous with strangers, keep them inside during the visit and just tell me. No problem at all.

Any time, from your account page. Two honest notes. I only take a set number of members, so if you cancel and someone on the waitlist takes your spot, I can't promise I'll have room when you come back, and the founding rate won't come back with you. And members who stay through the winter never pay a spring catch-up fee, because their yard was looked after all winter; leave in November and return in April, and there's a catch-up to deal with. Staying is almost always the better deal.

Honestly, not all of it. Fresh snow hides what I can't reach, so winter waste removal is best-effort surface clearing. What winter buries, I clear in spring. That spring cleanup is included for members who stay through the winter.

After every snowfall, usually the same day or the next. At the latest, always within the City's 48-hour window, so you're never at risk of the $100 sidewalk fine.

When a walk or the potty path gets genuinely icy, I clear it and put down pet-safe melt that won't burn paws, usually on the house. Heavy driveway de-icing is available as an add-on.

Edging, potty patches, urine-burn repair, resodding, hedges, enrichment setups, and plenty more. If it makes your yard better for your dog, just ask. I'll quote it, and approved add-ons go onto your next monthly invoice. No second checkout.

var acc = document.getElementsByClassName("accordion"); for (var i = 0; i < acc.length; i++) { acc[i].addEventListener("click", function () { this.classList.toggle("active"); var panel = this.nextElementSibling; if (panel.style.maxHeight) { panel.style.maxHeight = null; } else { panel.style.maxHeight = panel.scrollHeight + "px"; } }); }

Your dog's whole world is about forty feet wide.

It's where they patrol, dig, sunbathe, and wait for you at the gate. It should be worth the love they give you.Making a dog feel at home in his own backyard is the most rewarding work I've done. I'll take it from here.

Questions?

See you soon!
